Some of you know I took a Christmas job at the William Sonoma Outlet in Primm. I've started and it looks like fun. I haven't had a retail job in 35 years and the change is sort of enjoyable. No computers, no responsibility.

Anyway, I heard some of the store managers talking and it sounds like there are quite a few jobs open out there. GAP, Banana Republic, and Sketchers for sure. These are temporary, seasonal positions and Primm is a ways away but it's a job.

I checked out the shuttle and from where I'm sitting, it's no bargain. The rate for mall workers is $8.50 per day. I was surprised. I was expecting a bargain. Since my car gets 55mpg, I'll be driving. Plus they have me scheduled for some very odd hours when the shuttle wouldn't be running anyway.

Now I just need to get enough hours in to get my darn toaster and that crockpot! I figure this job will be history first week in January or so.

I looked hard so I wouldn't have to take the job at Amazon..... I kept hearing it was pretty awful. Williams Sonoma will at least be fun and I'm very much at home in a kitchen/entertaining store. And it will be interesting to see how I feel about meeting the public and no responsibility long term, at least for a few weeks. First job I've had forever where I wasn't oncall 24x7 and tethered to the office by some kind of electronic device.

Looks like things are looking up for you too!

I am impressed with you two. After numerous rejections, neither of you gave up. I am glad to see you are both working now. It goes to show you that even in this economy, jobs can be found if you look hard enough. Now that the unemployment is dropping, hopefully things will get back on track for everyone else who is till unemployed.

I'm sure after a little while at the Summerlin location that you can eventually get transferred to the location closest to you. I hate when that happens when you live right next to one location and they hire you for one farther away. Look on the bright side though..they could have hired you for the Henderson location.
