You should go to websites for the casinos here in town and click on their employment tabs. They always have positions listed and they have people file their applications online.

You could try, but jobs are tight and the competition is very high as well.

For local restaurants, I would think you'd have to visit each establishment in person with your resume in hand.

Good luck in your search, start on the web and go from there, doesn't hurt to fill out an application online with all the hotel properties if you don't live here in LV. At least you tried

Much good luck to you!

Check on Ark Vegas site. I know someone that gets hired & fired every other week; he bounces from supervisor to server in strip restuarants. This guy manages to get a new job right away so i'm guessing he lies on his apps. &/or they dont do background checks.

This restaurant does a lot of business, high volume, high sales. I moved up quickly in the ranks at my restaurant, employee of the month, was asked to attend (and passed) a private 3 month long wine course by our master of wine, and was then "promoted" to supervisor, which is essentially a manager once a week. I am now the head server with a few others (we have about 75 servers on staff) and I do my weekly 11 hour supervisor shift. Now im not bragging about my service skills (i mean really that is not something to brag about) I am just giving you my background at my current job. The problem is that my GM resigned unexpectedly, and he was my key to moving into the manager spot. Now it just seems that I am at a dead end job, and I am looking for a big change. I visited Vegas last summer, and loved it...but clearly living there is a totally different story. My question to all of you is this, is there high quality restaurant jobs available in Vegas? I dont mean like chilis or applebees but im talking about 5 star restaurants. Do you think I could get a job at a high-end restaurant, and where are available, safer, places to live, close to the strip with reasonable 1 bedroom rent? A lot of information I know, I just need some help, please! Thanks everyone.
Any job is going to be hard to get here. Many establishments have closed and the employees of those are looking for jobs too.

It's not because your resume isn't impressive - sometimes it's just because a lot of people move here for a short time and then head back home. A company doesn't want to waste time or money hiring someone who may or may not stay the course.

Personally, when I only got hired at my first job because the manager was impressed with the fact that I had already researched what type of work cards were needed and had already gotten them. I have an extensive server experience, have also been a key manager (managing one or two shifts a week), as well as have corporate training experience and LOTS of people were unwilling to hire me.

If you plan to move here your best bet is to get your work cards right away. You will need a tam card/alcohol awareness card (Nevada Alcohol Awareness Training) you can take the course online. You will also need to get a health card from the Clark County Health District.

Save some money to fall back on so you don't starve to death & apply at every possible casino (especially ones that are about to open).

Keep the following in mind before moving here:

- You will not know anyone and it is relatively difficult to make real friends here.
- It is insanely hot.
- The school system sucks - if you plan on settling down here forever and plan on having kids you should know this know.
- Once you get here, if you hate it, you might be stuck here. Lots of people move here and hate it but for one reason or another never make it back home.
During the good times people could move here and expect to find hospitality jobs fairly quickly. If you had any experience at all, you would probably get multiple offers. Now, to find a job here you almost need to be physically here, resume in hand and pound the pavement everyday. And even then the job is likely to be a lousy part time job. In this economy I would never recommend anybody come here unless they have a job already.

And don't call us "Sin City". We don't like that. Yes we like to PLAY but we also like to PRAY too. Las Vegas has the 2nd highest number of churches per population in the USA only behind Memphis TN. Probably 1/5th of the people here are Latter Day Saints because Nevada and Utah used to be Deseret. So while you may drink and gamble 24/7/365 here, lots of people attend church too.

Default Please...

Comeon guys. Look at the date on the posts you are responding to...

If it was months ago it is probably a waste. If it was years ago it certainly was.

Resurrecting the zombies does no good.

(And I hate it when I write half a response to discover it is a two year old message)
