Our pet gimmick with the tourists is a Limo. Something about a limo on the strip that is seen as fabulous.

What we do is pack our own booze and appetizers in a cooler and pick up a limo at some convenient strip location. If we plan on parying too hard we take the limo from home but that adds most of $100 to the bill.

We then wander up and down the strip stopping and getting a drink when the mood hits for a couple three hours. Costs under $200 with tip.

We then try to manuever it so the guest pays for dinner...which often costs a lot more than the Limo. (This is required by the way...every Las Vegan is expected to do his bit, however small. to separate the tourist and his money)

Another relatively cheap but effective deal is to take the guest to Mon Ami Gabe ( in the Paris). Make a res but then ask for outside. You stand in another line and eventually get the Led box shaker thingy...Then you go to the back bar and have a couple of drinks.

When they call you it is a great tourist watching spot and also one of the best places to watch the Bellagio fountains. And the food is quite good and moderately priced by strip standards. Enjoy...

I haven't been to a buffet in a long time, but I'd bet The Bellagio buffet is still the best, and it runs around $30.00.

If you take a limo, why not the hottub limo? Be sure to wear a big Texas sized cowboy hat and yell yeehaw a lot.

After Jersey Boys (which girls of a certain age would really love) mo'lady and I stopped for drinks in the lounge next to the theatre where we watched a really good group perform.

It's only over $30 on Friday and Saturday. Also, $38 is for the Village Seafood Buffet. The Carnival World Buffet at the Rio is $24.

Everyone needs to go to the Village Seafood Buffet once so they know they never want to go back.

I think you should go see "Thunder Down Under". You'll likely receive a lot of attention, especially if you sit up front. Don't ask what it is, just go.

If this person is into culture take her to see Phantom of the Opera, or a nice play at UNLV...OR JERSEY BOYS! If she wants to see the real Las Vegas take her to Jubilee at Ballys. If you don't mind the price, see one the Cirque shows. I think at last count there were 163 of them. If she likes good clean fun, Blueman Group is a fantastic show.

Told ya it's been a while since my last buffet...we don't like em, and only go when company demands it...but the last time it was still under $30.00 at Bellagio.

I went to the seafood buffet at the Rio and got sick as a dog. But I have a hard time digesting seafood, so mixing it is insane, and I did it anyway. Plus I was allergic to something too.

Hey, don't forget all the free entertainment on the sidewalk along the Strip.

Oh, yeah, I'd take her to Mt. Charleston Lodge for breakfast too...the Lodge...not the hotel.

... for future reference ..

Stop

If you spend all your time and money entertaining people because it is a good time/deal for them to come and vacation at your home ... you should start charging.

When we have people who want to come and visit we suggest they stay on the strip and we can get together when we can. This way they don't need a car and can stay up or sleep in as they please.
Especially those who like casin0 $$$ action

If you start to allow people to "drop in" at will and you stop your life to drive them whwere they want to go .. you will learn to hate your home and go broke.
This is their vacation .. this is your home.

Other wise you are subsidizing the casinos.

Have fun with your friend, go see Thunder Down Under, my grandma loved it, we took my grandma, who was 85 at the time, and in a wheelchair, to
1. Thunder Down Under
2. Spice Market Buffet at Aladdin and mall
3. A broadway show at the Paris
4. Green Valley Station, dinner, mall, and movie
5. Lounge show at Strasphere, it was a jazz band. Very nice.
6 Cirque de Soliel
7. Blue Man Group
8. Bubble show
9. Stayed at Mandalay Bay for two nights, not too pricey mid week, enjoyed the pool and spa, that was a luxury. Especially the hotel room, huge bath tub, great view, and then we did not have to drive home every night when we were downtown. Check into some places to stay at with your friend, it is worth it.
She had a good time in a week, it was packed full. That was a few years ago though, so I am not sure what is there now.

I was looking at this thread and taking notes (thank you all of you who have been so helpful to post your recommendations) and I revisited Eyes post:

you know, moving to a "touristy" place does have its drawnbacks if you're not aware. I remember one incident: I had just put up my For Sale sign on my condo in California a few days earlier, when I ran into two neighbors in the parking lot, one with her 9 year old daughter. They asked me what was up and of course I told them I was moving to Las Vegas. All three of them looked at each other, smiled and in unison said "road trip!" Yikes!

Even my housekeeper said to me "Oh, we come visit you"

one of the first things I did was to change my phone number and email . . . lol
