Where does the day labor hang out in SW Las Vegas. In OC I can pick up a couple of Mexicans for for a couple hours for $20-$40 per guy at the Uhaul rental and sometimes Home Depot.

Thanks

Nope not joking and before you say it, it's not racist. Generally you have to deal with the laborers "negotiator" because the laborer himself doesnt speak english.

I knew someone was going to attempt to get PC. Here's a fact: There's a Country south of us called Mexico. People from Mexico are Mexicans.

It has nothing to do with race. It is flat out illegal.

Why give someone money who doesn't pay taxes (thus burdens the system), will send the bulk of it back to mexico (helping their economy not ours), and might wind up being a criminal

you can find them at the nurseries (eg.. star nursery)... they may be illegal but they work hard... i'd love to pay a law abiding, tax paying, citizen $40 to dig 4 tree holes and clean up my yard... it doesn't happen!

The legal way to do it, and one of the best kept secrets in Nevada, is to go through the state run Casual Labor office on 'A' Street. You just call or go there. Every morning a ton of guys looking for day labor show up there and hang out until someone hires them. You don't pay any payroll taxes. They are contracted labor so that makes then self employed. Some even have transportation, but usually you'll have to pick them up. Oh yeah, most of them speak English, and they take jobs in turn by drawing numbers when they show up in the morning. You deal only with a state employee, not the worker directly, until you take him to the job.

DETR - Casual Labor Services

It is not legal to hire the guys hanging around the nurseries or down on Bonanza.

That is a great service. El Paso could really benefit from something like that. Hiring illegal workers is common place here. It becomes very easy for people to justify breaking the law.
