Greetings...
I just closed on my home in Vegas and need to install a garage openers. I know the belt drives make less noise, but I'm wondering if people generally go with the chain drives for durability. I'm not sure how well the belt drives hold up in the heat here. Any feedback would be great.

I've always had chain drives. I've never seen belt drives here...didn't even know they existed. I'd think the heat would kill them. It gets really hot in the garage.

Belt and DC. Mildly premium units. The deluxe places generally have belt or screw drives. Half horse power for normal doors. Bigger or high ceilings go with a 3/4. Sometimes you have to take the 3/4 to get DC.

All should go ten years. You don't have the lubrication thing with the belts.

Lowes or Home Depot works. Harrison is better and more expensive.

I would also recommend that you have the door insulated. The foam is 1 1/2" I think. Really makes a difference keeping the garage cooler.

Second that. It is easily done if you are using one of the garage door firms.
