I think it's really Mandalay Bay that has the lazy river.

I wonder how much it would cost for me to put a lazy river around my house? It could double as a moat.

Mandalay Bay is the #1 pool with Palms and Hard Rock coming in second. Palms and Hard Rock are tops if you are single and looking.. Mandalay is great for everyone. Try a cabana or gazebo at least one day too.

Get a 24 hr pass for the Duece or better yet get the 3 day pass available only at a Kiosk.

Mandalay Bay is worse than Hard Rock when it comes to needing a cab. You're wayyyyyyyy outside the center of the action... AND the cab rides will cost more since you are so far away.

It's fascinating that some people put such emphasis on the pool. I don't even consider the pool when choosing a Vegas hotel!!! In fact, if the hotel didn't have a pool - It wouldn't make any difference for me. I want to do Vegas things while in Vegas. To each his own

well we do to. but my wife especially wants to spend some time in a great pool with a drink in her hand. which actually is a vegas thing, really. (if it wasn't, there wouldn't be so many lavish pools there )

Is there enough room to do so???? From what I remember of the pic you posted, homes were pretty close together and had little yard to speak of...quite similar of many neghborhoods in LV...especially Summerlin! At my brother's house, you could be doing dishes in front of the kitchen window and clearly watching TV (or others things!) through the window of the house right next to it....definitely no room for a lazy river moat.

And consider the HOA restrictions...most don't even allow planting (or removing) a tree without approval...let alone a moat!

Stayed at them all...

1. Caesars
2. Mirage
3. TI
4. Planet Hollywood

...in that order.

Club Pure is pretty cool @ Caesars. Hands down, the Palms has the best nightlife though, it's a very short taxi from the strip. Checkout Ghostbar...actually check them all out. I believe they have a promotion that if you stay there, you get free access to all their clubs besides Playboy and front of the line passes. I'd also add MGM Grand to your list, the pool area is great for meeting people. I would take Planet Hollywood off your list. Enjoy!

Mirage
Caesars
Planet Hollywood
Treasure Island as a long shot (stayed there already)

I've browsed the websites and searched my memory from my visit last year. Some of our remaining deciding factors are food - we will want to at least eat breakfast where we stay - the pool, and entertainment/nightlife (but we aren't going to spend all night in some club either). So who's got the best breakfast of the bunch? I like PH so far but how are their pools - their website doesn't show much and the google maps picture shows them looking like moldy oldies from the Aladdin, and completely shaded by the building.

Or, any other suggestions for hotels in that section of the strip? We're the young and hip type, but more laid-back than cosmopolitan. The Hard Rock would be our style but we don't want to be so far off the strip, mess around with cab rides all the time, etc. (The tram doesn't get to Hard Rock, does it?)
