Hello all:

I find it to be extremely expernsive with all the taxes and surcharges to rent a car at the airport in Las Vegas. Is it cheaper if I were to rent it say at any of the hotels vs. the airport? My research came up with arount $180 with taxes and fees for a sub compact car for only 4 days.
Thanks.

-Dave

Shop around more. Generally, you should be able to do a lot better than that at McCarren. Try the travel deals section at Fatwallet.com.

Sure, you could probably save money at one of the Enterprise/Hertz locations off-airport. However, it will cost you in terms of getting to the location or to the hotel and to the location and then the logistics of getting the car back to the agency. Also, most off-airport rentals have somewhat limited hours.

Are you an AAA member? Rentals there are as much as half off. Last time I was in FLone rental car company quoted $400 for the week. The same company, same car same dates through AAA was $200 for 7 days.

I got an economy car at Dollar for 52 bucks for four days in Jan., but lately the prices are way up. It seemed the airport was always cheapest. BTW, there were a lot of unhappy customers at Dollar--don't know exactly what, but.......
