So I need everyone to chime in here. I do a lot of "Stuff" up on the Strip. Dinner, shows, gambling, etc. Normally I park in the garages and walk in, but if its a "special" occasion, or I am really dressed up, or even if its just real busy I will Valet.

The question of the day is what do you tip the Valet? As a point of reference, I am used to paying $10 - $20 to park for an evening in Detroit, and I ALWAYS tip 20% at a restaurants. I feel like I an stiffing them currently (I have been giving them $2-$5). Do you tip different if you are a local vs. a tourist? My car has Michigan plates, but its pretty obvious I live here now.

Do you tip different based on what casino you are at? My first reaction is to tip more at the Bellagio than at South Point; however, at Bellagio it was some faceless dude that I will never see again, at South Point it was the same guy that went and got my car that parked it 4 hours earlier. And he was rocking out to the Beatles I had playing too.

And a final thought, does it matter (in regards to tipping) on how they treat your car? I mean Really? My car is nothing special and desperately needs to be vacuumed. Speaking of that, can I give the Valet a $20 and have him go vacuum my car for me?

I usually just give a few bucks no more than five. I visit the strip a few times a year.

Do you tip more, same, or less when you pick up compared to dropping off. I always tip less picking up because I don't have to worry about them swinging my door wide open into a pole if I don't tip much.

I've always heard it's $1-$5 when you pick up the car. No tip is expected when you drop off the car.

See, that freaks me out. I'd tip MORE when I drop it off...

Incredible...I have lived here 12 years. I valet close to every other day. I have never heard or seen anyone tip going in.

I tip $2 going out unless they have provided a special service. Like keeping my car up while I do a quicky drop of papers. Than $5..

Comon we live here. $2 is more than sufficient.

Now if I just won 5 grand...but then again I will never win 5 grand...cause I don't gamble at that level.

I tipped 10 one time because I told him I would be leaving it for 17 days, while I flew to DC, and didn't want to pay airport parking. "No problem." I gave him another 10, when I picked it up.

Really? Thats 2 for not tipping on the drop off? Am I breaching etiquette by tipping at the drop off?

Whats the logic between tipping at pick up and not drop off?
