Do yourself a favor and do not move there unless you have employment lined up in advance. That said, it is much harder to secure this employment if you do not have a local address and phone number. I doubt the major resorts are doing too much hiring these days (especially those with less experience).

Your 2/2 1140 SF in a good location sounds pretty good. I would hate to be pissing away 13-1500 per month on housing, when I've been to plaes, where I can live like a king, for 700 per month--for everything, including Dental.
Depending on what you rent. I believe the lower 1/1 units are cheaper-but around 900. Maybe a little less. 2 pools, 2 spas, a fitness room, laundry in the units. Depends what you require.

So, ya, if you can find a place living like a king here--that is what you should do.

Sorry folks, that place is Chiang Mai, Thailand. Dental clinic in chiangmai Thailand services by specialist.
My house was in this neighborhood: banwangtan

It is snazzy. I paid 23,500 for a house in there two years ago, and sold this summer for 30,000. The buyer was a teacher from Ohio, who was just a little fed up with the Public Schools there. It was a great experience, and my dental work is grade A. Much better than the Mexican dentist I went to in Sonora, and better than my American dentists, too. She is about a 9 in the looks department.

Actually, my Visa expired (not that it would make anyone leave the US) and I had a "no-change" plane ticket. Lately, I've been asking myself the same question, though. Meanwhile, many homes selling for 250,000 in March 2006 (when I bought), are now selling for 50-100K. Timing is everything.
BTW, I still like to Thai one on.
