I'm coming down to Vegas next week by myself - Going thru same crappy stuff right now, and looking to forget it all and have fun in Vegas...I'm looking to simply have some fun and meet nice, friendly people - I'm not really into the "Studio-54", "Rain" club type thing, not to mention it's so darn expensive..- but looking for something else with a better chance to meet people and maybe a little less costly...

Anyone have recommendations...and no, I'm not talkin brothels either...

If you want friendlier people, try the Pt's Pubs or just about any smaller bars You will not have to pay to get in, and can actually afford to drink.

PT's are local bars here. some of them have dart, pool tables. and of course machines to gamble at. I'm not sure, but I think maybe the closest one to the strip is at Spring Mountain and Arville. But there may be one closer. That is just a couple of miles from the strip.

Wow! I guess Ms. Eliades hit the nail on the head with her quote from the "Down and Out in Las Vegas" article featured in a recent thread:

Dolores Eliades says the history of Las Vegas shows it will find a way to adapt and survive. "Historically, Las Vegas is able to withstand the problems of the rest of the country. When people face hard economic times, they come here to get away from their problems. In the US, people are escape artists, and they deal with problems a little differently from the rest of the world. I believe the history of this town proves I'm right, I really do."

blackbimmer - regardless of your reason for visiting Las Vegas - have a GREAT time!
