My family is relocating to the Vegas area. I am looking for a posh area to live in and would like to send my children to a private Christian school that will give them a top notch education. Not looking for a brain washing for my children, I can do that my self . Just looking for a safe environment where education takes priority. Looking in Summerlin or Seven Hills area.

In Summerlin, I'd recommend Faith Lutheran. I went there back in the day and had an excellent experience. It's a really close-knit atmosphere, but the size isn't too small (its grades 6-12, with about 1200 students). The academics are strong and the teachers are really caring and wonderful. I'd also say that it's probably the most down-to-earth and accepting of the Vegas private schools. I think tuition runs around $7,500/year.

Then there's also Bishop Gorman, which is Catholic (grades 9-12), but is more expensive at around $11,000/year. It's a great school academically, with good extra-curricular programs, but the money-oriented nature and the influence of wealth on campus has always been somewhat of a turn-off to me. Personal preferrence, I guess. But like I said, it's still a really good school.

Both schools have their benefits, but both also have a different vibe, if you're undecided between the two, visiting would be a good idea.

(If you're looking at elementary - I've heard good things about both First Good Shepherd and Mountain View, as well as the secular Las Vegas Day School.)

Christian is one of those funny terms...many who use it don't mean Lutheran or Catholic. Depending on what you mean either is an adequate school neither is outstanding. About par with the good public high schools but run to a tighter standard of discipline and behaviour.

If you have money and you have kids suited to it there is the Meadows. Non-denominal but strict and driven to high achievement. Expensive. And the Day School..similar but not as driven.

If you mean Christian in the evangelical sense I would suggest the evangelical channels. There are a few that appear workable though you need to be a believer to get the story straight.

Indeed. However I don't think there are any other Christian high schools in or near Summerlin? As far as I know, Faith and Gorman are the only two (at least at the MS/HS level).

I will agree with this. Both are good schools, but top publics (like Coronado, for example) are on the same tier - although they tend to be quite a bit larger.

True. But it's also ridiculously strict to the point where kids aren't even allowed to talk at lunch. It's a bit scary, really.
