While driving of course. My night vision has never been amazing but out of all the places I've lived, Las Vegas is easily the most difficult place (for me) to see the roads and markers at night.

Why is that? Is it from lack of rain? Roads too dirty? Oil?

Anyone? Bueller?

It seems about the same as any other place to me.

It's been a while, but I've never had a problem. In some ways it's better than other places. Since they don't have to plow snow, they can have raised dots as the lane markers on the roads, not just paint. IIRC, those are much easier to see at night.

The older you get, the worse your nighttime vision becomes....

Agree. At 72 my night vision is fine but I now hate night driving. I have a minor case of glaucoma which may be the reason that oncoming headlights look a bit fuzzy. I think the sheer mass of dancing lights around all those hotels and casinos would be a real distraction for many drivers at night.

Some roads have no street lights which fricken suck. The road markings on a lot of roads suck. The dots that are supposed to have reflective lights are so old, dirty, and fading, you can barely see them at night. I spend a lot of time focusing hard on the white lines and the rear-end lights on the vehicle in front (and sides) of me.

For night driving on the Interstates I try to keep another car about 75 yards ahead of me. My headlights will light the road from me to the taillights ahead which helps me determine if any critters have wandered out into the road -- not nice to hit a bull elk at 80+ (not that I would ever go that fast, ). Following a car also helps to see bends in the road and if I see brakelights ahead then I know there's an issue of some sort and by following that car I get an extra 75 yards of reaction time to avoid any hazards.

Not a problem in AZ, but I find some lane marking are harder to see on wet roads at night; some paints are reflectorized and some aren't.

Street lights help a lot, especially at intersections and curves in the roads.

The one thing I find hard about driving in Las Vegas recently is all
the road construction zones. I can't go anywhere without having to
go through 1 or more and then every other week, some of the zones
shift. On the plus side, traffic in general has been sparse and that has
definitely been a big positive to moving here from Philadelphia. The freeways
back East where I was driving had only two lanes...they got
congested most of the time.

Road construction sucks because you gotta follow the cones and figure it if it's safe to turn or change lanes....ugh.... I've also noticed there's been an increase in constructions. lol it reminds of of a driving exam I did at the Henderson DMV. I failed it though (examiner failed me for driving too slow through a blinking orange light). But he made me drive through some construction. Fast forward several months and I'm just thinking to myself why the heck was I told to drive through a construction zone on a driving test.... You can pass your test and get your license and still have a hard time driving through construction lol.
