I'm interested in purchasing a home in the suburbs of Vegas, but I guess it would probably be considered more as a vacation home since I'm on the road a lot with my job. I probably be in the home about maybe three to five months out of a year. I don't want to come back to the home where it's totally vandalized, or there are squatters.

you will be fine in most areas.. that is what great neighbors are for.... unless of course you are looking at lowend homes in the rougher areas.... in my opinion, gated communities are a joke (i have a house in one), the gate is usually broken, if it is closed, push it and it opens, etc.... however a guarded community is different but you are going to pay some big bucks
