I respect your opinions on here and I see you as being more measured than many other posters, so this one sort of surprised me.

It doesn't take an intellectual or even an expert in pathogens to know that a casino is a potential breeding grounds for disease.

True but nothing exceptional, Any large hotel or complex of them has the same problem and can get just as hard hit as a big hotel in LV. And our ability to spread disease is not even within a order of magnitude of something like the NYC subway.

Or anywhere...

https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/11/healt...gia/index.html

LA, Orlando, Chicago etc. Can all be subject to an epidemic in a single site or city wide. No reason LV would be any different. Disney has 70,000 employees in Disney World. Imagine a CV getting loose in that population. Puts any one LV hotel to shame.

In my professional life I attended 100s of conferences. The biggest site was LV but New York and Chicago were also very common. And all of these involved large crowds that could easily have spread an illness.

And on the bottom line the Las Vegas disease statistics show no numbers way out of line. In fact on some unlikely ones we are better than the national average.

I was speaking with regards to lawsuits. I keep seeing people bring that up. No, there will not be lawsuits. Of course, this is America and anyone can sue, but there isn't going to be a bunch of lawsuits.

This virus is going to be with us for the foreseeable future. We need to flatten the curve and re-evaluate as we go. We won't be shut down for 5 more months.

Cocaine might actually work out. But pretty far to the extreme. Then again would you have believed 20 years ago that pot would now be legal?

The hooker battle has gone on for 50 years. 35 or so years ago I attended a presentation by a wheel from Marriott. He pointed out that the hotels did not want legal hookers nor did they want no hookers. To run their business they wanted availability to those interested without creating a problem in the hotel.

The Las Vegas story is similar. The casinos want hookers but they do not want it to be obvious. They want to make the lady from North Dakota happy but they also want the LA guy to be able to get laid if he wishes.

So legal prostitution is unlikely...but allowed prostitution will still go on. That is how the Casinos want it.

I'm not against it, but something else must be done first. What that is, is for casinos to figure out and I certainly hope they do.
How is anyone going to prove where someone contracted a virus? Especially in a city with so many businesses that visitors patronize, not to mention the airports and airplanes they will take to arrive.

If lawsuits were a worry, why are supermarkets even open now???

I love Vegas but the marketers in charge of promoting the city are complete and utter garbage, They'd rather spend 50-150k having DJ Khaled create some dumb videos about how "Vegas is so fun" instead of actually using it to put together family friendly events. Take for example gaming, the gaming scene is HUGE why aren't we hosting competitive tournaments for ie; COD etc.? How about making skill based casino games?

Instead we get year after year the same acts ie; Mariah Carey, J LO, Ricky Martin, Jabawokees, Pen & Teller, Copperfield;
When realistically now that pot is legal we could be capitalizing on that by attracting the younger 18-25 crowd, I'm just saying.

Discourage families from coming here, return it to Adults Only. And include a Red Light District.

A train from the Airport down the Strip to DT, would also be of help.

But ok. Employees have daily temperature checks. Guests get temperature checks and masks upon check in. Everyone wears masks now and it's not weird. Some masks are designer stylish with rhinestones. Oh and visible continuous sanitation is going on in the resorts from chairs they sit on to slot machines and the dice they roll.
Yes, wearing masks around all the time is weird.

Any business that wants a temperature check to enter won't be getting my business.

They're free to sanitize as much as they want. Not sure how realistic it is to sanitize craps dice after every roll, but ok.
