I have a dead maple tree in my front yard that I'd like to replace with a small to medium size Canary palm. I'm looking for where to go to get the best price and service on a palm, and whether I should go the full-service route or buy the palm from one source and have someone else plant it and configure the irrigation system for it.

There are several nuseries on Eastern and I get flyers from landscaping companies in the mail. But would like to get a real recommendation.

Thanks!

Palms are not difficult to transplant and there are some ads on craigs list for people who are willing to give away mature palm trees. They just want you to remove it from their yard. Im not sure if thats the best way to go, but you might be able to save money doing it that way. Im not sure on the cost of transplanting though.

You're right, there are some folks who want older tree removed from their yards.

So that still leaves me with the service aspect. Anyone have a recommendation for someone that can remove and replant a mature palm? I don't think me with a shovel and a UHaul will do it.

Thanks!

Aren't Canary Island Palms super expensive? Can't see anyone giving one away. We bought a Chaste Tree at Plant World and one of the guys there planted it for us for something like $50.00 or $75.00.

I'm still looking for a recommendation for a tree mover. Getting a Canary that big relocated can cost a lot and I really don't want to get fleeced. It would require a crane and a large truck. If you have a name and a ballpark quote for removing and replanting, I might be interested.

I've found some palm growers that I might use because at least I get a quote that includes the tree with delivery. They have much better prices than the retail garden stores/nursery stores and I can pick my tree from rows of palms.

There is a specific crane/digger/tool [whatever you call it] the is used to remove and move palms....it's by far the easiest and safest [for the palm] ask plant world about it....[note: it is NOT something most people can run themselve, it's BIG truck mounted]

Default Dead Canary Date Palm

We have a dead Canary Palm - about 20-30 feet tall. We need it removed, does anyone have a idea of who could do this? We were thinking that a carver might like to use it for a tiki type carving? If not, does someone have a suggestion for a cost effective way to remove this? Thanks.

Well I had bought a few Canary Island Date Palms from one site. They work with people on prices if you call them. They are not too expensive and will match other peoples prices. Which was nice. And about removing one, I know my next door neighbor put one up on craigslist and a landscaper came and removed it for free. In my opinion the Best source for Canary Island Palm trees is from the site I was talking about before which is real palm trees . com I didnt put it together because I dont want it to seem like I am being Bias towards them. Well I hope this helps.
