Las Vegas / Henderson sky watchers...

At around 5am this morning, looking to the east - a few degrees up, not high at all, I saw a very bright object, which I thought at first was an aircraft or hovering helo, but turned out to be stationary.

Was that a planet?

Likely Venus. Famous illusion at sea. Any number of sailors have changed course convinced that Venus is a mast head light on a big ship coming at them.

Greg from the Las Vegas Astronomical Society said to:

Keep watching that area of the morning sky and by the end of December you'll see Jupiter rising in the same location.

Why do people say 5AM in the morning? Would this be opposed to 5AM in the evening?
