property crimes have always been an issue because there's so many empty homes (while people are at work). Door jams in Vegas are easy to break because of the short screws builders use. You have to factor in that once you're in the home nobody is going to come inside for hours (because they're at work) - which allows the criminal plenty of time to browse. Now with the advent of peer 2 peer selling apps (i.e offerup, facebook market place, letgo etc...) it is really easy to move stolen goods. From a criminal perspective it's a low risk, high reward crime.

I think the uptick in crime parallels the uptick in population. Plus for a while (or maybe still) metro was understaffed and that prevented them from doing proactive policing.

I'm sure there's plenty of CL alternatives out there for working girls and pimps so I don't think that's the leading cause for an uptick in property crime.

I agree, it is out of control. Now the gangs have to downsize prostitution departments and retrain pimps and hoes into B&E. Only the savvy gangs will adapt in time to avoid losing market share to the dozens of websites for escort services already satisfying thousands of customers, or the card flippers doing direct marketing on the corners. Legal weed caused downsizing in the drug distribution departments, so most diversified gangs are suffering through a period of reorganization, and the only wide open market left is residential burglary.

When the stadium is finished, it's over. All those parked cars will be smashed and burglarized. The fans are known criminals, and all 65,000 seats were sold to their fans in Oakland, who are moving to Summerlin between 2019-2020 because it's a proven fact that NFL fans move with their team. Look at Art Modell's move to Baltimore, Baltimore moving to Indy. Houston moving to Nashville. Geez, what about the Rams and the Cards?

Move before they smash down your door!

If metro is so understaffed why in the hell are they blocking lanes on LVB with dozens of cars and even more officers every damn weekend?

If metro is so understaffed why in the hell are they sitting on that road between reno and koval to nail people going a whopping 30 in a 25 instead of saving their officers for real crimes?

If metro is understaffed then I am a 2 foot tall black woman with no legs and 2 toes.
