The area of Mountains Edge was just mentioned the other day. Am I incorrect believing I recently read the developer for the area, The Focus Group, was in financial difficulty and therefore it would not be wise to invest in that area?

As far as good zipcode areas in LV, I am becoming more and more confused. Again just recently, I read a post extolling 89129 but when I checked the Metro incident map, I noticed a high crime area to the southeast of it. Otoh, some areas just south of Craig which I checked into, were without any incidents.

Also on the recent dicussion regarding dogs, I have always wondered how one deals with their dogs when they have total desert landscaping? We have 3 dogs and desert landscaping looks to be to me, chunks of some type of rock material. Isn't that going to be a real mess to clean up when you have dogs doing their daily business on pretty rocks?

We too will be coming out to extensively neighborhood shop May 10th - 14.
I am hoping we will be able to sneak into some of the gated communities to have our look see. Professionals I have communicated with seem to be all over the board on their opinions. I have been told by some to stay away from HOA neighborhoods as they are too controlling while others recommend them. Meanwhile, I have no problem with the HOA neighborhood I now live in. For awhile, I thought I was firmly set on SC Anthem area but just glancing through their HOA rules, I was shocked to learn they don't even allow one's security system to be audible. Since I was previously employed with our local police department, I know an audible alarm is more secure than a monitored; with an audible the homeowner knows immediately someone is trying to make entry and can re-act instead of waiting for some sleepy monitoring person to re-act and notify the police. While that time is elapsing, the intruder can do his thing and be gone.
