They want the business, but not the traffic. Can't have one without the other.

Drove it yesterday in both directions. While it is a much smoother drive (no traffic backups, no traffic lights) I don't think it really reduces the time by all that much, unless there is a huge backup at the turn in Boulder City. The drive probably adds 6 or 7 miles to the drive overall which does much to kill any time savings.

And BTW, lots of NHP cars along the way to make sure you don't go too much over the speed limit.

So it reduces the time unless you drive through Boulder City at 4AM on a Tuesday.

i'm sure you're being sarcastic, but in reality, the only times I've really had bad backups was on the weekends, and without the trucking, which will take the bypass as a given, I'm not sure how much of a backup there will be from now on.

The bypass is 12.5 miles and the old route is 8.35 miles with multiple traffic signals and speed zones. With OTR trucks on the bypass, the old route will be significantly quicker, but still not faster than unimpeded travel at legal speed on the bypass--in either direction.

I drove to Phoenix this weekend and I have to say it's very well built, lots of NHPs making sure you don't speed. Like someone said before me, it adds like 7 miles to the drive which at the end of the day it doesn't really save time since Boulder City is so small, more than anything it keeps you at a steady speed, therefore it's an easier drive. The only way it would save you time is if there was a lot of traffic or an accident in Boulder City, which is uncommon.

Arizona DOT needs to do something after the Kingman/I-40 portion because that's where the drive starts to suck (lots of single lane traffic and driving through small towns and turnabouts).
