Most of you know my story by now. Actually I have two issues with my current landlord. He keeps the house at 81 or 82 degrees which is by far my biggest complaint and also will not issue keys which can be a real pain sometimes.

Does a renter in this situation have any rights as far as compelling him to keep the house at a comfortable, humane temperature?

I did actually post an ad to see if I can upgrade to a better and/or more convenient neighborhood.

He does not follow through on promises to provide things like furniture, borrows money, and smokes my cigarettes. Appreciate any insight or suggestions from this wonderful community. Thanks.

Move. On room rentals you will not be able to do anything about low 80s. That will be accepted as tolerable. You might win on the keys but there is no rational way to bring it to a head. So find another place and move.

I agree. Already getting weird responses to my roommate ad asking about race and sexual orientation.

Just keep trying out different rooms or just find your own place.

You could create an ad on Craigslist in the "rooms wanted" section and list a brief description about your desires and self and go from there, might have better luck. That's how I found the room I currently rent.

That’s a pretty good idea, Dex. If nothing else, you can see who their friends are.

Was not aware that facebook had that. Planning to view a room Thursday near The cannery. Pretty sure that is an upgrade from 89106 and close to Nellis. Feel free to share your thoughts on this.

And he keeps his place at 73 degrees.
