What happened? My internet speed doubled overnight after two weeks of spotty service. Has cox realized they are becoming simply an ISP instead of tv provider?

One can only hope, Hughie, but typically jumps in performance are followed swiftly by a rate hike.

I think AT&T has awaken them.

Interesting. I just ran a speed test on Ookla on my laptop through the router and my speed has also doubled. I have the $59.99/mo rate for 100 mbps locked in for two years on an introductory offer, so I'm not changing anything in spite of their attempts to get me to upgrade. Don't really need it.

If I had one complaint, it would be that I get a lot of server errors for Cox email on my phone. It's not my primary and only a minor annoyance when it happens. It usually resolves itself pretty quickly.

I haven't used cox e mail in about a decade. Nothing but problems with every aspect of cox. I do however, think they've finally realized there's some competition now, and what a ripoff cable TV packages are. I would go with AT&T internet in a heartbeat but it's not available in my neighborhood.

I'm looking to move to the Henderson area and heard that there's only Cox cable option. Is this true?
What about satellite service? What options are there for that? Is there trouble with it at anytime?

What do you believe is the better option between cable and satellite? Why?

You really have no choice. It's Cox, Cox, or Cox. Unless maybe you live in a very new area. It never hurts to check them all. Satellite is WAAAY too slow and klugey for decent streaming. Centurylink is trying to deliver service on wires older than we are and their service is slow compared to Cox.

Now if you are only talking about cable TV, they all work OK.

Just did a speedtest and I am getting 350 and right now paying for 300 so the service is good. Ping was a bit slow at 9ms. Upload was 30.

I did just learn they offering 1G service for not much more than what I am paying now.

I'm getting 120 download via wi-fi until I can get my Ethernet going. Paying for 100. Installer screwed it up and put the modem inside the wall box and put the metal cover on. Horrible speed and house coverage. I took it out of the box and bingo, problem solved.

I run 150 down and 14 up. Same as last November. You can get Hughes satellite at 25 mbps. Other than a few lucky places that have Century Link gigahertz fiber that is all there is. Well there is LV Net...which is microwave connected. Appears to work well in some spots and not at all in others. Probably placement with respect to their tower.
