The stupid casinos fought the original plan for the monorail, which was to run it center strip. They said it would block their signs. The taxi cartel also weighed in, and now we have that joke of a monorail where it sits now. The infrastructure for major transit could have been put in way back then, but nooooo.

Don't let MGM decide anything or people are guaranteed to end up dead like last time.

I tend to agree with whomever pointed out that some of the resorts having to change how their parking garages are accessed will be a big impediment to any plan to eliminate auto traffic.

Honestly Las Vegas your infrastructure is pretty good for driving but coming from Texas it could be better. They have big budgets for highways and they build them into no where. No joke. They make them big too for shipping. Plenty of room.

A good start is to have better and more frequent mass transit, off the strip free parking and getting those slow moving advertising trucks out of the way.

Change life for millions and millions of people because of one crazy moron? No thank you, that is not the way rational people address things. This is right up there with some very stupid, ineffective ideas that should be scrapped.

I personally think it might be a good idea. Last I visited, I wouldn't dare try to walk the strip except at the MGM area. They do this is many towns, limit traffic in the central area....with parking in the rear of facilities.

Not going to happen. They are in the process now of enclosing more and more of the side walk. Caesars properties are installing guard poles all along LV blvd yesterday where the side walks are open. I bet by the end of the year the entire stretch of LV blvd will have some sort of pedestrian protection. Ultimately it's easier and cheaper to build crossovers where they're needed, and fence/barricade the sidewalks and just keep traffic and people completely separate.
