I'm tired of winter & Denver! I've been looking on craigslist & have seen tons of cheap houses out there! Not sure if those are way out on the outside of the city or not. But I would love the heat over the cold! What are jobs like out there & do you have any good company names? I'm in my late twenties & hope I can find something out there. I'd love to move ASAP. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!! If anyone has moved there from Denver please let me know that life after Denver is better!!!!!

Thank you so much!!!!!

**Oh also tell me Vegas has some ladies? Denver is full of dudes & the cost of living is out of control. No job market & insurance is high!!

We really ought to take turns doing this.

First read the threads...there are dozens all about moving to Vegas and the job scene here. Do your homework. Then, if you have specifics, ask.

General opinion by this august group is that you need enough money to go at least 3 months, preferably 6, in the bank before coming to Vegas.

The Vegas job scene is generally good...but easy to get jobs do not pay well. Once you get here get a local address and phone number. It is very hard to get a starter job in Vegas without both.

Get a job of some sort reasonably quick. Then search for what you want.

It is good place for service workers bad for most techies like IT guys.

And welcome...

is it possible to remove the current sticky and put something similar to olecapt's above as the new one (i seem to recall something about only being able to have one active at a time)? seems that every week or so, a thread like this gets put out there....be nice to have something to help new posters ask the appropriate questions and save regulars from giving the same initial answers.

I always wonder if people actually read the threads first and then post?? Doesn't make any sense to me.

I don't think they read the threads relating to moving here, they just post asking for the millionth time, the same questions.
There should be a sticky covering all aspects of moving here, jobs, housing, etc.
And also a sticky mentioning that they may want to visit first, don't give up their current job, home, etc, before securing all they need here.
I get so tired of answering the same questions into infinity and beyond, that I think i'll just leave it up to you guys.

OK Good thought. Let us create the sticky...and if it unsuited to City Data I would put it up as a page to which we can send all newbys.

I think this effort would be better done as a new thread.

Look for "Basic Advice to those who wish to move to Las Vegas."
