I drove a 2007 Chrysler 300C AWD Hemi for almost a decade. Really fast for it's size, great handling, a blast to drive. Got 239,000 miles on it before I took it off the road. I just bought my first pickup truck ever (I'm 57). I have a small 12" camping trailer that doesn't require a pickup truck to tow it (I used the 300). But I had various reasons for picking up a 2014 Ram Big Horn 1500 Hemi Crew Cab 4x4 -

Utility - easier to take extra gear like two mopeds along camping with the pickup truck bed.
Tall - I love looking over the traffic, get much better views of the road in front of me
Room - I've had Lincoln Town Cars before, and the interior of this the is huge compared to them.
Power - can tow up to 10,000lbs, 1,500lbs payload, pretty quick with the 5.7 Hemi
Off Roading - I've never had the option before, now I do.
Towing - Just tows great. Tow package with brake control built in, bigger mirrors.

I'm not in Vegas, but I think pickup trucks are big in the U.S. Plenty of pickups here in Boston...or when I head over to Mohegan Sun.

Best answer. I have seen at least two accidents that involved a pick-up truck and a sedan. The sedan was totaled and the pick-up had a minor fender bender at the most. It is one of the many reasons why I drive one also.

I drive a 2013 Chevy Silverado LTZ(White Diamond).
Its convenient, safer, great for hauling, a potential money maker and spacious.

Once every month or so someone will call me for help to pick up some furniture/large item they purchased. I rather they call me than I have to call them.
