Ok, now that makes two stories I have to hear. One about Mexico and the other about Jamacia in the other thread.

I read there's a strain that doesn't cause paranoia and another one that's an aphrodisiac. I was a bit overwhelmed with it all. The people just look like regular people to me of all ages and the store sort of reminded me of an Apple Store.

They only take cash because of the federal laws still prohibiting it and banks won't risk losing their FDIC to handle the pot business. I rarely carry cash so I couldn't buy anything. They do have ATMs inside for this. I know there was a credit union in NV that went through a lengthy process to attempt to be the only bank to handle the pot business money but they backed out due to the FDIC issue.

There was a house that blew up here recently in NE Portland because they were trying to make cannabis oil with butane. Two people died. It was pretty bad and the first I've ever heard of something like that happening with Pot.

I've been watching the videos on YouTube about how to make cannabis butter and the oils. It seems there are much safer ways like using an electric pressure cooker such as the Instant Pot. One of my friends from Colorado is in town that had a pot farm there. They were telling me all that goes into growing it and making the oils and edibles. It's a lot of work. They said the cheapest way for a novice is to grow three plants outdoors at your home if you can. In a year it will yield five pounds of flower and you'll have more than enough for all the things you want to make, and that edibles last way longer.
Credit Unions version of FDIC is NCUA which is also a federal agency, however, some CU's are insured by ASI which is a private company. I wonder...

Or the "reporter" who decided to write a story about edibles. IIRC she bought a chocolate bar that was, like, 32 doses or so. Ate one, waited a few minutes, got nothing, ate another, and on and on.

Once it all kicked in she totally freaked out.

Idiot.

If you haven't seen it, check out the Magical Butter machine. Much easier way to make butter, oils, tincture etc. with any kind of herb and way safer than butane and easier than the double boiler method. If you're using cannabis, you'll want to decarb it in the oven first, but that's easy. Once you decarb, you chuck it in the machine with the butter (or oil), press a button, and let it do its thing.

I just read about the Cosmopolitan cracking down on people smoking on the balconies. People in the story were quoted as saying they witnessed a couple being removed from the property by security for doing so, shouting that they already paid for 5 more nights.

Maybe and Amsterdam-themed resort should be built, complete with dispensary and red light district!
