Mine is too.

The Pottery Barn, Nordstrom Rack and Ruth Chris steakhouse aren't exactly "world class".

Pretty typical of Anywhere Suburbia, USA actually.

Try the next state over (California).

Educated people don't do very well in Las Vegas unless you're educated in a niche field such as Hospitality or Gaming (two of the specialties of UNLV) and you happen to belong to the Mormon church -- yes, seriously!

Pay for teachers within the Clark County School District is awful and not worth the headaches the job entails. Social services jobs requiring at least a B.A. degree are even worse, with the same cronyism and religious favoritism.

You can graduate Magna (C)um Laude from Harvard or Berkeley and it won't mean anything when your boss is a "C" student from BYU or a UNLV yokel.

No, No No. Educated people do well in Las Vegas. Techies should go elsewhere. But don't let that confuse you. Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants, Nurses, Personal Managers etc. all do fine. And actually even teachers due reasonably well when they get a little seniority. And we don't even mistreat the beginning tearchers like we used to. And in Las Vegas a reasonable degree from BYU may be more valuable than a Harvard degree. When in Rome...

Las Vegas is a gold mine for Lawyers and certain Doctors. It could even be considered a niche market in itself. Doctors = abundance of older people and retiree types for revolving clientele. Chiropractors, they also do extremely well here. Lawyers = lots of crabs in the trap simply because of the higher risk environment... it's almost too good.

I've never had a job like that either. For me it has always been like salmon swimming upstream -- you give it everything in hopes of making it. I'm retired now, so I guess that means I made it.

However, if you graduate Summa (c)um Laude, you'll be on easy street.

Actually, I've run into many finance people from Penn, Stanford, Columbia, Chicago, and others, as well as good state schools such as Michigan and Berkeley.

If your single with no kids and don't plan on having any then give Vegas a try. You can jet off the Calif for the cheap or anywhere else. Yes it is a hustle town. Just get your hustle on and if you don't like it then just move on.

The good=Buffest. The bad=Buffets. If you like sports this is the place to be. Raiders coming. Hockey coming. UNLV???? Sportsbooks.....
