Need to get internet soon. Debating between the preferred and premier. 50 mbps vs. 150 mbps Plan to supply my own modem, Arris Surfboard sb6190 and the google whole house mesh wifi.

50 mbps is plenty, if I actually get that speed. 150 mbps is more than necessary. No way I can hardwire Ethernet to each node.

All I want to do is stream netflix etc on 2 tv's at once while browsing the internet on a laptop. Will use an ethernet switch and hardwire the desktop computer in the office I use for work. No gaming.

Is anyone actually getting the advertised speeds?

50 is fine. Yes, I get advertised speed.

What router do you plan to use?

I get well over the advertised speed, so you should be fine with 50 for the tasks you use it for.

I actually switched from Cox to Centurylink yesterday. Cox just keeps raising their rates and their advertised speed of 150 megabit was half that for me. Most people don't need that much bandwidth unless you have a bunch of kids that all watch HD movies.

How is the speed and what are you paying?

25 megabits @ $40/month. It's adequate for my needs.

We are on Cox at 50.

My wife teleworks--remote logon to server in TX. The millennial in the basement streams tube and music all hours when not at work. I am a light user, but we have 3 laptops, 2 tablets, and 3 mobiles constantly on and off wifi--no problems. Netflix on my smart TV streams fine, even when my wife is working.

We get advertised speeds most of the time, meaning we don't notice a degradation that often--don't have any stats, just satisfied with the service.

I have COX 50, routinely get 60. Cost is $79.99/mo.
Have 3 TVs, 2 computers, 2 phones, 3 Roku's, Netflix, Amazon prime, Hulu, NV Energy wifi thermostats, 2 wifi security cams..
Gonna try the Century 40M for $50 / mo.

Cox has a good reputation for meeting or exceeding their advertised speed.
