1) those are impressive light poles
2) even with green light poles, the traffic is still stopped - probably because they are ooogling at the pretty light poles?

In the bottom one the van in the left lane has moved forward (the top left corner is just visible) so I assume it is going on green.

Could you imagine what the whole city would look like at night?

Awesome idea but I think the key is to pay more attention at night and not get distracted. Maybe have those just on the strip during Christmas/New Years time.

In Desert Shores they have painted to stop sign poles red too. It makes a difference.

Some of the stop signs in Sun City Summerlin have red reflectors covering the posts, and bright yellow borders added around stop lights. Not sure it's helping.

We need to get rid of 4 way stop signs in this country, they are stupid, or more accurately, people are stupid and don't know how to use them and often assume that every stop sign is a 4-way

It's nonsense
