Got the email tonight that Badlands has finally shut down effective immediately, not at all surprised as it was left to rot by Par 4/Elite management. So if you have tee times there, go change them now.

Your point? Like, who plays golf in 2016, anyway? Golf courses are a thing of the past, buddy. Once all the old folk die off, (god willing sooner than later) all vegas golf courses will be redeveloped into condos and 0.00000000000000000000001 acre tract homes.

Ignoring the ^^^ above nonsense, I heard about Badlands closing a while back and I guess it's now official. I played there a few times and it's okay. It wasn't my favorite track and I only went there when someone else wanted to check it out.

Like the OP said, poor management doomed the place, as did lack of revenue. Elite runs five other courses and with the possible exception of Black Mountain, they are all decent courses.

It does make me wonder if maybe Vegas over-built when it comes to golf courses, at least at the high-end level.

Ummm you don't know about the homes they want to build on Badlands golf course? This fight has been going on for 2 years now.

Do you read the paper?

There are 5 too many golf courses. Some golf course have times where they offer some kind of frisbee golf or soccer golf.

1. Yes
2. Knew about that
3. Not all the time

Feel free to take a long walk on a short pier with that irrelevant post!

Well, finally getting back to relevant discussion, I think Vegas is no longer a top level destination when it comes to golf. The courses have priced themselves as though they have pristine conditions only to find they are glorified goat tracks. Wynn is a loss-leader and is on it's way out, Bali Hai is soon to go as well, don't think Silverstone will re-open without major changes such as going eliminating one of the 9's.

I'm fine since I have Paiute to go to but if more courses closed, won't be necessarily a bad thing to conserve water.

Great chefs open restaurants and fail frequently. Great golf courses fail in a similar manner, usually with lots of golf knowledge and little cash flow knowledge. If you have spent time living at one you will see that the employees are mostly migrant worker types and the people doing the dirty work are often illegals. Usually, by the time they Bring in the management companies like American Golf, it is already too late, and basically they are just trying to minimize losses until the big land deal is made. Some of the racetracks operate in this manner, first as a real estate trust, a golf course as a very distant second. Be glad your HOA does not own one.

Iron horse is selling. Guess Billy Walters is liquidating before he goes to court.

Wynn is putting in a lake, claims its less water usage than a golf course.

Is silverstone the one they are fighting over, someone bought it and wants to put up houses?

Bali Hai land is worth much more now than when it went in. Plenty of courses to play in Vegas, not a big loss.

New private course going in at the Summit.
