McCarran to hotel
Flight took a horrible delay so it ended up being 4am before I got to the stop for the T1 Economy Lot shuttle.

Waited about 10 mins, had a friendly driver who ran me all the way up to the Gus Giuffre end.

Walked 2 mins along Gus Giuffre, past an idling LVPD patrol car then 3 mins up Paradise to the hotel.

No hassles and felt perfectly safe.

Hotel to McCarran
Had left my bag with the hotel and picked it up again just after 6pm.

Made the mistake of not immediately crossing Paradise so had to do a mad dash across 2+3 lanes further down

Noticed there was another cop car parked up on Gus Giuffre again - might be a regular spot for them ?

The walk from Paradise around onto Kitty Hawk way is pretty isolated and I would think twice about doing it again after dark. This time however I was trailing about 50yds behind a group of tourists doing much the same thing as me so it felt OK.

Walked down past the sculpture and into the terminal area, no hassles and no drama - simple

Conclusion

It can be done, albeit you need to plan your route in advance.

If walking after dark I would personally cut through the Economy Lot and go along Gus Giuffre as it avoids being out of sight of the cameras. Also there is no traffic danger if you cross Paradise at Tropicana.

A minor adventure
Thanks for the update! That makes sense they'd have an officer idling there. I always see several of them too around the airport when I'm going back and forth to the airport picking people up and dropping them off. I had to do a lot of that this past year for my husband's interviews. He flew to 15 different places. The police were always right there. Then my friends and family came for their holiday trips. I was going to the airport several times a week. It hadn't occurred to me that it would probably be a safe short walk for you too because the police are all around there.
