Maybe official airport thermometer in the shade 100+ days.

In reality, there are several weeks of 110+ days. However, they are nice if you actually take the time to make yourself adjust to the heat.

I lived in vegas for a few years, but had to move because the dry heat in the summer was too much for my body and my skin, i wasn't able to 'handle it' for lack of better words. Being there in 100+ temps for months on end with no sight is not my idea of a 'good time'. Love vegas in the fall though.

Nope. The way temperature is measured is well established and followed by the official weather stations. The measurement on a thermometer exposed to the sun has little to do with the actual air temperature.

There are also places in the valley hotter than the airport. But that is true virtually everywhere. So when comparing places you generally rely on the official numbers.

It's always at least a couple of degrees cooler up here.

We have been able to visit so many national parks and national monuments, and the Las Vegas valley has served as the home base from which we have started our road trips.
That poster was saying there are things to do/places to visit, but they are HOURS away, not close. Available but not easily available. So that is a pro and a con.
