I have been applying for over a year now on and off to work at the Strip. Currently, I am working in Downtown area with a full time job. You know downtown pay is so low and I'm trying my best to work at the Strip. I do realized and noticed that it is all about "WHOM YOU KNOW" and 'NOT WHAT YOU KNOW". Given the chance I know someone but still I could never get a job. Let's talk about Wynn first... their hiring process is so unprofessional that you have to line up first for the meet and greet and then you come back if you get lucky for a second round the next day and then the panel of interviewers are listening to your customer service experience and then third round again on why you deserve the job and who knows they chose the "INHOUSE". Group interviews I don't have luck at all. I will be applying hundreds times with the group and would not get it. But if it is a one on one I can get a job easily. But, which company conducts a one on one interview? MGM your resume goes straight to junk if you don't meet their qualifications. Cocktail server is an easy job but you could never get in. Why oh why???

most of the casinos start with the group interviews.. including the M and the Cosmopolitan... its all about personality... i had no experience before getting the job at the M.. my only experience before the Cosmo was the M. Both were for casino cage. I also did the Wynn interview.. there was nothing unprofessional about it.

I really don't believe it is all about personality coz the group that was chosen don't have any personality at all and I was stoked! All I know was that most got chosen were the ones who have inhouse source and the rest don't have any experience at all to the job they were hiring. I have the experience and the personality yet I didn't get it lol!

You already know the answer: go make some inhouse friends.
No point in applying/reapplying if you already know that's how they hire to begin with

You seem to want to believe there is a "fault" or "something wrong" because you have not received an offer of employment.

Perhaps the locus of "fault," to the extent there actually is fault, exists between your keyboard and your chair. Maybe the hiring managers are doing a good job screening you out because maybe you do not meet their standards.

IF their HR department is willing to spend the time and money posting open positions, taking applications and holding group interviews then you can rest assured they are looking for the best people, not just someone who knows someone. This is going to sound a little pig headed of me, and I don't mean it in a negative way, but a cocktail server is a job that literally anyone can do. Your job skill is walking around with beer on a tray, and handing out change after the customer pays. That said, your most important asset is not experience, it's your looks. It sounds like you need to stand out of the crowd a little, so go to your interviews dressed a little more revealing than you normally would for another type of job. Do up the makeup a little more, wear a low cut shirt, wear a dress and heals or something. Show them what else you have to offer other than experience. Casinos want their cocktail servers to be attractive...us men will spend more money (sadly). I know that sounds bad, but it can't hurt to try.

I am not applying as a Cocktail Server at all since I know it goes to junk again for not having that experience. What I am trying to understand was that..i have the experience, the personality, the inhouse source, but yet they hired the ones who doesn't have the personality and experience. So it is not about me not meeting their standard?? Go figure!!!

i heard a guy saying on the bus he was fired from a job because of racism. I could tell he was a bad employee by the way he talked..................................lol.

There is a point here. OR Rosie Odonnell doesnt think she is what Donald calls her. The majority would agree she IS what Donald called her.
