Well I wish you luck and hope you succeed, I know nothing of the dance/entertainment industry in LV but I can certainly support your efforts riders_on_the_storm.

My oldest sister danced with the harlem ballet for ten years and now she teaches private dance lesson's, , , , , , she once told me it's one of the hardest jobs in the world, the key to being successful is "being the best" at all times, if you love dancing as much as you say then you'll love to practic six to eight hours a day to perfect your skill, , , , , , good luck, , ,, , , and by the way, if vegas doesn't work out, you can always try new york

I know I know...olecapt will say "Cite your source".......just my observation from years and years of indepth personal research
Not much actual dancing going on these days in the strip clubs. 99.9% of the job is meet and greet--play the sexual tension game--VIP room action for $300-500, where absolutley nothing happens. Clip joints--no different than the champagne room joints with the promise of consumation. The girls are beautiful and available, the guys are willing to spend, and dumber than ever.

Anyways, I was wondering how easy or how I could go about getting any kind of dancing job here. I was thinking about being a Siren at T.I. (if-y) or a Polynesian dancer/hostess at Kahunaville in one of those casinos.....I really want to make a career out of dancing
If what you want to do is dance .. find someplace to volunteer.

Even the horizonal mambo is suffering in this economy ..

Check out all the entertainment publications for open calls for dancers. There used to be a local publication for local entertainers that listed all the shows looking for dancers, singers, musicians, etc. Use Google, go to news stands, especially on the strip, and ask other dancers. I don't know if the union still exists for local dancers but I imagine they are a part of bigger union now. Maybe IATSE or something. With a little more research you'll get there.

Entertainment news, movie reviews, awards, festivals, celebrity photos, industry events - Variety
IATSE is the stagehands union and has nothing to do with dancers, actors, or performers.

If you want to get into a Broadway size show in Las Vegas like the Lion King, Mamma Mia, or Phantom, then finish your major in dance and acting at UNLV then move to New York and start auditioning. Most of the shows in Vegas hold auditions in New York. Yes, some of the smaller scale shows will audition here and in LA, but you might get a better start in New York. In most cases you will need an Equity Card, but don't worry about that until it comes up. Begin talking with your professors and advisor's at UNLV. Tell them what you want to do. They will be able to set you off on the right foot.

Dancing in Vegas is a joke.....most are chosen by other dancers already in the shows and many know each other if you are not in their clique you don't get in ...so if you are at a show and wonder why the dancers are mediocre at best and their faces look like the girl who couldn't get a date in high school and looks as old as your mother you know why!!!

Makes you wonder why the headliner or director is not more involved

Better than starting a new thread. We get a few "how do I break into dancing" threads every year. So there's the answer -- be part of the clique. Just like high school.
