Friends of mine just left after staying a few nights at the Palazzo. Breakfast was included in their stay.

I was just about ready to ask a similar question: we are going to Vegas 5 nights in a couple of weeks. Would love some ideas on a decent breakfast buffet or brunch and maybe a good seafood or dinner buffet. If not a buffet somewhere with decent sea food. Money is an issue, but we don't have to go super cheap. Last time there, we ate dinner at the Paris outside near the sidewalk. it wasn't cheap but what a great meal we had. Most of the time we will be eating in the Flamingo Time Share.

I second this.

Vegas isn't really ideal for kids and pretty much anyone under 21 for that matter. Yes, there are various things to do but they require walking and/or a vehicle to get to.

Let's say you stay at Circus Circus like most families do. It's a bit of a walk to the rest of the strip. And even if you have well-behaved kids, the hot weather makes everyone fuzzy unless you're too buzzed too care

Well we used to take our kids to Vegas about once a year and our daughter took our grandkids. If the kids are old enough and one doesn't expect to spend a lot of time gambling I see no real problem but not without a car. all the fun things in and around Vegas require a car. When we took our kids, it usually involved travel to someplace else with a stop in Vegas.
As for food, oh how I agree with you. I am floored at the cost anymore. In fact we are going to be there for 5 days, leaving in just a few days: Our daughter has asked me to pick out a decent place for dinner on Mothers day. She certainly doesn't mean cheap, but I am searching and am blown over by the cost.

OP: another suggestion would be the Embassy suites but it is off the strip. They offer full made to order breakfast daily and managers cocktail party each night. They have snacks at the cocktail party, maybe not enough for an entire meal, but at least something. I do have to wonder, why you are thinking Vegas with kids and no car? Even if you plan of spending time just hanging out around a pool it will be very crowded. Let me add, you will not be alone, many people do bring their kids.

ok, if old enough to stay alone at night while you enjoy the sights forget what we all have said. Actually our kids (older when we took them) loved Vegas. But that was when we had a car to use, so we could site see in the day hours. Believe or not, even though there are some great exhibits in some hotels for the kids, the walk from hotel to hotel is a heck of a lot longer than you might guess. Good luck and have fun. Food will be expensive, especially on the strip.

Food is much cheaper and I believe the california casino still has a food & ROOM OFFER but I doubt they are going to include kids.

Food is MUCH more expensive on the strip.

Maybe look to rent a timeshare and then you would have a kitchen and more room for the family.
the time share idea is a really good one. I thought about that as well: Also, you are right, downtown is much less expensive.

It's not that bad. Las Vegas is a foodie destination with more celebrity chefs per capita than anywhere else. Food is Art. It doesn't have to be over the top; you can eat very well for $75 or $100 per person for dinner, assuming you don't order an $800 bottle of wine.

If all you want is calories, you can always go to a chain such as Applebees or Olive Garden or Bucca di Beppo or Capital Grill. Don't bother with the menu; just tell the waitress "I'll take 1800 calories with 2000 milligrams of sodium. Put in at least 100 grams of saturated fat. Make sure nothing is fresh."

My grandkids love Shark reef Aquarium... We spend hours there... They also like watching the volcano, riding the tram, the Bellagio fountain show and the Bass pro Shop at the Silverton.....

They love going to new restaurants to try the food (they really love Harley Davidson Cafe).....

And hanging out in the pool area of wherever we stay.....

So depending on what you are doing a trip with kids is fine...
