Still raining here hours later. This is much longer than I've ever seen here. Usually it passes in bursts but this is steady rainfall today. Kinda feels like the PNW.

Seems to me we have gotten more rain this month than we did for the past couple years.

rain is needed I know. We need it here as well, but can't someone ask the rain gods to turn it off while we are there this week? I see Friday is supposed to be wet and most of the time we are there, cold. It warms up the day before we leave; Great pool weather: ha;ha. I don't even know what kind of clothes to bring now?

I wouldn't bet on a 4 day forecast (96 hours). They can't forecast climate, or even if a supposed rainy season due to unusually high sea surface temperatures (which are observed, not forecast), let alone rainfall amounts. It's just the nature and limitations of computer modeling, which is the majority of that forecast for rain this Friday.

I just checked Friday's forecast and now there it's cloudy, no rain. That's what happens when a new forecaster comes on shift - they go with what they know. It's not uncommon to check the 3-5-7! day forecast and see it change with every shift change. Forecasters get rated and ranked based on their score, how many they get right. It's one of few jobs where you can be wrong 20 percent of the time and not get fired.

Heck we were thinking our granddaughter, who didn't have any idea what she wanted to do when she entered college should have become a weather person: she is attractive, very outgoing, loves to talk and could have been assured of a job whether right or wrong. Now I am going to keep good thoughts, take shorts, out swim suits and convince myself we will have sunshine and 80 degree temps. I don't care about Friday so much it is the rest of the time; Sat, Sun and Monday. I do see Monday should be nice.

We are going to have a blast. The good news, the two cool days the guys will be at the race book betting on the Ky Oaks and the Derby so if it is a bit cool, the world will not come to an end. The last day,Monday hubby, daughter and son in law are taking a helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon. The weather looks awesome.
