Thanks, again! Do you have a particular brand of test kit you recommend for the black dot test? I just finished reading some information on Taylor Technologies Web site, and it looks like their maximum CYA for their black dot test is 100. Is there one which goes above 100 in increments of 10?

I use the Taylor pro. Mine is an older one and has it up to 200. But you can pretty much estimate where its is on the scale. If it gets to a 100 fast on the test (gets cloudy quickly) its because your CYA is already high. If it gets cloudy slowly then your usually good.

If your CYA is > 100, it's too high.

Sounds good. Thanks, again, for your assistance!

I own two rental houses in LV with pools. The lease requires the tenants to pay for weekly service from Nationwide. they rehabbed or built each pool over the past two years. I pay for any repairs. I am connected well with Nationwide so if the tenants have issues, I get a call. these are executive houses so money is not a real issue.

If the pool gets full sun, by late summer the water can be too warm to really cool you off. Otherwise, it's never too hot IMO.

Not really. Our pool easily gets to close to 100 but it is covered. If we simply leave it open a couple of nights it drops below 90.

Perhaps in a heavy monsoon season you cannot get rid of enough heat by evaporation. But that does not really occur in Vegas.

I don't like water much above 88. 90+ is a bath to me and too warm when it is 110+ and the sun is shining strong. It is not refreshing. Extra warm water + hot sun is not a good time IMO. The only time water that warm is comfortable is at night.

You and my wife differ. She considers anything below 85 cold. I don't mich care if between 75 and 90. Above 90 is too warm for me. 105 for a spa.

When I get my dream house in Vegas I'm going to have pool covers, and keep the pool temperature between 88-93 degrees. I like the electronic pool covers, where you push the button and the pool is covered 30 seconds later. I'm not sure they can be made for odd shaped pools though, which is the type of pool I'll probably have.
