Sure would be good if us newbies could have a sticky so the vets. can post all under 1 thread, all that we need to know before moving there. I'm sure it would address TONS of questions that we have, as I see that there's no shortage of repeats on the forum. I would welcome whatever tips/advice/info. that any vets would care to impart, no matter how random they might seem. All cities have their "unspoken" rules that the residents go by, you know. It's sort of the flow the city and newbies more than likely won't know that until they get there and are forced to adjust by default. Just figured I'd throw the idea out there so newbies can look under one place instead of sifting through the hundreds of past threads looking for a subject in particular. So what do ya think?

I think it's a good idea. The true residents need to clear up the rumors trolls tend to start.

Shall we do it here or start a new thread?

As a frequently accused "troll"...I promise to stay out of any such thread. I'll just sit back and watch the infighting amongst the residents. It's kind of fun to watch it happen every now and then.

As with ANY forum, there are always 2 mentality types . . searchers and slackers. As you have pointed out, there is an abundance of the latter on this forum. Stickies would probably just be an exercise in futility . . lacking a moderator policy of locking or deleting "repeat" threads.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of Sheriff.

He wins Troll of the Year award. I mean, it really would be hard to beat his oh-so inspiring "LV is a Cesspool" thread.

I think stickies are good for factual information. Perhaps a list of communities/subdivisions by ZIP code or the location of universities.

However, stickies are useless for topics of opinion or information that changes over time. Examples would be preferable places to live, employment info, or rental/real estate trends and prices.

It all depends on what we want to accomplish with the sticky. Remember, new threads (even repeated topics) keep this place going. Encouraging lots of searches and discouraging new threads on repeated topics can turn this place into a library real quick
