Ok, so I must admit, this city has the absolute WEIRDEST names for some of the residential streets.

In my line of work I see hundreds of street names a day and so far my number one pick for "strangest" would have to be Baby Tears Ave...huh? Why? Who is naming these streets? Is it the builders? Do they let their kids chose names. I'm fairly certainly I'm going to come across a neighborhood devoted to Pokemon characters soon...Pichachu Avenue...has a certain je ne sais quoi about doesn't it? LOL

So name your favorite off the wall streets in this city. Hopefully this will be a fun thread!

I use to live on Montezuma Castle, It took my husband a year to spell that one. It was long, and I was alway having to spell it for people.

I like "Internet Ave" in North las vegas, just down the street from me by a few miles heading south.

I have a friend that lives on the corner of Astronaut Ave. There is also one entire neighborhood with Star Trek names that I think is quite interesting.
I think in some neighborhoods the builders all sit around getting high to come up with many of the names.

How about my area with some tongue twister names if you say them 5 times really fast:
Lavender Lilly Lane, Plum Poet Place, Glorious Iris Place... Every single street in my neighborhood is a flower name.

Over at Sun City Aliante, the street i like the most is Kookaburra. All the streets over there are birds names.

I would never live on Baby tears ave.. it just reminds me of dirty diapers for some reason.

In the NE part of the valley there is a Hotchkiss(looks like hot chicks if you look at it fast) and a Waterdragon. Both are around Hollywood and Owens.I also remember one in NLV back when I visited in 2003 but I can't remember the name or where it was at.

One of my favorites is Bugsey Seigel Court - How is that for Vegasie?

I live on Tomsik...which was named for the Tomsik's who lived down the block. I think they are gone now though. The only place Tomsik comes up is on the sex offenders list...Also kind of Vegas...named after a sex offender?

While searching for a rental home I've noticed how street names will effect my desire to rent any particular home.

All other factors being equal, if I like the street name, it makes me want the home more. If I hate the street name, it's a bit of a turnoff.

Of course, being turned off by "Breed Hill" and "Lookout Hill" when my name is Hill is kind of a given.

I wonder how many people actually care about the street name when shopping for a home? And what about the street numbers? Personally I prefer short street numbers, i.e. 212 instead of 74012. Simple is best.

I think a lot of people care. We are always announcing weird names in our department and saying, "Would you ever want to live one THIS STREET?"

I guess it has something to do with the fact that you have to give your address out to people and you don't want birthday cards being sent to "Whorevey Avenue"....lol

There's an industrial section just west of I-15, south of Sahara with street names such as Polaris, Procyon, Regulus, Capella, Sirius, Rigel, Pollux, Aldebaran, etc. These are all star names (not the Paris Hilton type of star, but the giant ball of burning hydrogen type). I've always thought that was very cool - too bad they wasted them on an industrial area.

The residential street names in all of the planned communities are kind of amusing. It's as if they had two hats - one filled with adjectives and one filled with nouns. They picked one out of each hat and put them together to come up with the street name...
