There's nothing really if you head south, but if you head north you can check out Sam's Town which has the neat indoor park waterfall animatronic owl, bear, eagle etc., a bowling alley, century theater 18 plex, mickey d's, dunkin donuts, ice cream parlor, mexican restaurant. Friday night from 4pm the buffet has all you can eat snow crab legs. And the aforementioned walmart is across the street from Sam's Town.

Not the place I would pick for my first Vegas experience. It's OK.

Air fare is about 300 roundtrip from Pittsburgh to LV, maybe $75 more than it costs to go to Florida.

I am going to be going somewhere this winter, and a good hotel room is worth 100 a night anyhow.

Its a reasonable alternative.

The EastSide Cannery Rooms are nice. Stayed there myself for two weeks in 2013 while moving. The food at their Cafe is OK at best except for their breakfast. We used to frequent the buffet but the food is not so great there anymore. The steakhouse is nice there.
