I called cox when I moved here because was told 200 channels for $20 a mo
(Bldg already wired) sd I wanted HBO & Showtime, $15 a mo. For 6 mos then $30 a mo. Pgone, $25 and internet $35, should be about $95 , got bill, with all the taxes, etc $140! On the bill the net was $66 a mo, called to drop net , they sd I was on a "bundle" and if I dropped the internet it would go to $160 a mo !! If I cancelled everything because I'm on a contract there'd be penalties even though I signed no contract and no one explained this. How can this be legal?

Sorry, did you really believe you were getting 200 channels for $20 per month forever?

Every cable and satellite offers introductory pricing for a limited time.

You accepted a verbal contract over the phone. You can contest this but I guarantee they have a recording of you accepting it.

If I understand correctly, the price of the bundle should be $95 for the first 6 months and then $110 per month for the next 6 months. Plus taxes. Was there an installation charge for phone or internet? Was there a rental charge for the cable modem?

Unfortunately, what you were told doesn't make a whit of difference. Read your contract and see what you actually agreed to.

Call and complain. After you have to spend a hour and half of your life getting the run around and jumping through hoops. They will finally agree to give the what they promised in the first place and correct your bill for that month. Then on the next month the bill will be right back were you started. Wait until you call to cancel a subscription or return some equipment.

I only use Cox for internet. I decided I really don't need TV. I use netflix and hulu. I haven't had regular TV for 2 years and I don't miss it.

This. The initial packages are just an introductory offer to get your service.

Yes, you can play the game of threatening to cancel and then they might make an adjustment. You just have to be prepared to really cancel.

Yes I already know this. My post was based on my personal experience dealing with Cox honoring promo packages and dealing with service cancellations.
