Will it help? I know we have some landlords here who probably know all about it. Is it an improvement?

Whenever I see stories like this I always wonder which legislator was likely victimized by this crime in order to make a law come about.

Realtors pushed this one.

Not sure it works though. How does a cop determine that a lease is not real? I have heard of at least one incident where even the signatures were correct.

I don't know, when I was serving Notices and filing evictions there, a 30 day Notice to Vacate followed by a 5 Day Unlawful Detainer then a hearing and if they were still there, Constable and locksmith are at the door. Not too big of a deal, but I'm amazed at the number mentioned in that article! wowsa!

This is why when I finally move to Vegas I"m going to buy a gun. Every household should have a gun for protection against these animals.

Not a bad idea, but only protects the house when you're in it. Also, this is much more of an issue for abandoned houses.

What NV needs is a method to expedite the foreclosure of abandoned houses, and maybe not even by the banks. Just seize them as a nuisance and auction them off.

The Las Vegas Sun states that Assemblywomen Seaman, the sponsor of the bill, experienced the issue firsthand.

She flew home last year during the legislative session for some real estate work, and when she stopped by an underwater house in southwest Las Vegas that she was trying to sell, she found squatters inside.
