For those who have cox cable tv (both of ours are on their digital boxes, new boxes too, recently exchanged at their store), have you noticed jerky tv? I've noticed this on TCM, and during the superbowl pre game when I checked every now and then it was widespread with the picture freezing every few seconds.

I tried calling tech support and they run you through the reset procedure etc. IOW, no help at all.

What causes this?

Poor signal to noise ratio. Interference over the line. Faulty delivery box. Keep bugging Cox until the issue is resolved or just cancel your service.

Low signal, pinched wire. Bad connector. That's the three things that will cause that. Do you have contour, or hd box?

Don't know, it's a Scientific Atlanta for digital cable.

Ok, not contour. They have been having problems with those boxes since last year. I can not tell you how many I had to replace. They are not new boxes. Flip it over. Either on the back, or the bottom, there will be a date on it. It's probably not even from this decade.

Look like this? If so, tell them you want a client box.

I went through 6 of these boxes when I switched to business service. Same exact problem you're describing. The boxes are very old, and they don't offer new models to business clients. I switched back to consumer, got the contour, and all set since.

The contour boxes are usually pretty good. The only real issue is if the signal in your house is weak. They are picky about their signal. Sometimes the dvr hard drive goes out, but that's the nature of hard drives.
