For a holiday place that is rentable you might might consider the condo-hotels..MGM Turnberry for instance. These are at the strip and will offset part of their costs with rentals. Note that they will NOT pay for themselves. They are in general relatively expensive.

You could also consider some of the condos in 89123 and 89183. These are places like Manhattan and Boca Raton. These are less expensive but more trouble to rent when not occupied.

The Las Vegas Country Club is also convenient to the strip and has condos across a broad price range. That is located in 89109.

Here in the US, we call vacation, what you call holiday. Therefore, a holiday place, would be marketed as a vacation place, if you plan to rent out in this country.

Well there sure is no shortage of places for sale. Maybe the first time ever I agree with olecapt on the Manhattan condos right on the south end of the strip.

Turnberry is priced for the Bill Gates of the world. No one even lives there either. You can drive by any given night and look up and see maybe 5 lights on out of a thousand windows. They are basicly owned high end motel rooms for the wealthy. Do you really want that?

At least the Manhattan and Manhattan II have year round residents to look after things. Im familar with this place because I had my skilled hands into this project. They are built well. They are ugly but if you like New York City
architecture and human filing cabinet type living, you will like it.

Maybe better yet if this is just for a vacation/holiday getaway, why not buy a time share. There are a couple right on the strip. All the bad and the corruption associated with time shares have long since vanished. You can have much flexability with a time share. You can choose your holiday times well in advance.

Good luck to you and we welcome you to America. We do have a good sized Brit population here. There are several Brit clubs you can get together with also. The largest one I know of meets at the Marriot Resort on Rampart and Snoberlin PKWY. Twice a year the Royal British Air Force comes to Vegas to do joint military exercises at Nellis AFB. You know when they are here too because the Crown & Anchor Pub is very crowded.

If you're looking for a safe area, it may be wise to look further to the outskirts, such as Summerlin or Henderson. Condos or small houses in the more residential parts of town will be less expensive than the luxury ones on the strip, and there isn't quite as much commotion. Plus, it's not that far from the strip - only 15 minutes, usually.

Default Vacation Home

Hello Las Vegas,

Thank you all for your warm welcome and advise, It was the welcome i've grown to love for over 15yrs in Vegas..that's why we want to buy there.

I was reading up on how many brits were in Vegas..27,000 you have more than us in the UK, they get everywhear don't they.

English, I'm English but don't speak it, I have what's called the brummy slang(that means that I don't speak like the queen, I speak like OZZY OZBOURNE he was born 20 mins from my house) my speach is a little bit more posh than ozzy though, It because i'm a girl I think.
I'm from the second largest city to London called Birmingham, It is a very mixed race city full of life, I love it.(London Is 1hr and 30mins drive away)

I love Vegas, we have seen all the famous places and done the strip and down town over and over again, we was married at the little chapel of flowers many years ago.

My husband retired as a fire fighter a couple of years ago, he's now filling his time doing part time work as a builder.

I'm a fully qualified Cosmetologist(skin specialist) and permanent cosmetic tattoo technician.
I have lots of email pals from all over the states who are involed in the same work as me, one of the most famous trainers is a LV resident, I can not wait to meet her.

I have looked into all sorts of property's..
The Manhatten is a fantastic building we are looking into those
The Boca is a little exspensive for us.
The Park Avenu, has problems with it's building..and is said that it may cause problems with surrounding buildings.(I was informed by a local estate agent) There were a few that we liked in that building, It's such a shame for the people who are livethere, they are taking court action against the builders to put it right.

I would like a little more advise on Henderson, Green Valley and Summerlin if you could be as kind.

We really love The District are we close with these zip codes?

Henderson, I read on this site that some parts of windmill are a little bit rough?
These are the areas we are looking at in Green valley & Henderson:
Wigwam(Scotts dale Valley) 89074 or Wigwam to Stone Canyon
from Sunset-American Pacific-(Bailey Island to Anorak 89074) or to Canyon and Winterport 89074

We have aslo looked at 2 homes at:
Maryland to Silverado Ranch-Bermuda-Whispering-Tree creek 89183

We have not looked at homes in summerlin, what post codes are they and how far is this are from the strip?

Las Vegas Country Club is also something that I will look into now you have pointed it out for me.

Thank You Thank You All

Take car and be safe
