New to Vegas and was just curious where you would recommend going to watch the fireworks display.

The best view is on the strip itself. But if your not wanting to be in the mix of all those people.. a good view is by the NLV airports off cheyenne and Coleman in NLV. Its an idustrial area with plenty of parking. Get there early because its going to be crowded.

Is it true that if the wind speed reaches a consistent 10 mph, the fireworks displays on the strip will be called off? That sounds rather low but I thought I heard that on the news.

Oh, thanks, Jared. 10 mph doesn't seem like a big wind but I guess it's enough to cause safety problems with fireworks especially on the strip where there will be so many displays being set off and how many people will be on the streets.

There have been several years when I used to go to the strip to see fireworks on NYE. It would get breezy, bordering on windy at times. The fireworks always went off despite the wind.

We always go to the Rio Parking lot. Need to get there early, but it has a great view of the whole strip & Fremont Street.

From our house on Frenchman Mountain, we can see fireworks on the strip, downtown, Nellis, and many of the outlying casino shows...can't hear them, but kind of cool to watch from a distance.
