Excellent point!

I always forget to consider traffic because I've always worked (past tense, will start working days) at night, and majority of the time I could use surface streets. Gawd how I loathe the 15.

Thank you for the reminder! I really need to keep this in consideration too!

On that subject you should look at a map of the Summerlin area and notice Summerlin Parkway and where it takes you. We find we use it a lot. We live about a half mile north of it and it is really convenient.

I think you're talking to me ... LOL.

It was so long ago since I used Summerlin Parkway. I don't remember anything about it. I'll look on a map, and perhaps drive around when I get back. But I'm still partial to areas south ... well at least my memory of it is positive, I don't know what it's like now Lots to explore when I get back!

If we could have found a reasonably priced house in Sun City Anthem we'd probably be there putting up with the traffic. As it is we find we really like it up here.

Wow, you found a better priced home in Summerlin vs Anthem? Not that I know anything about Anthem (LOL), but this just surprises me.

I think if I worked in Summerlin I would like living up there. Then I wouldn't really need to leave my area.

You were right when you talked about traffic commute and where a person lives. Big consideration!

My first choice would be to skip Las Vegas entirely. My second choice would be to live on the extreme west edge of town -- right up against the Spring Mountains. More shade and better summer temperatures that way. Better gardening. I know this for a fact -- my aunt lives there. It's much more pleasant there than it is here in Sunrise.

But at the end of the day, I cannot live anywhere other than "less than a mile away from my mother in law." She had plumbing problems today. If I lived clear across town, that would have been very expensive.

Consistently. And, in general, it's more "deserty" in it's landscape. Summerlin is surprisingly green, which helps a couple of life-long Midwesterners transition. We found one acceptable house in Sun City Anthem, and there was no back yard at all. 15 feet to some shrubs, then 15 feet to the neighbor. No thanks.

That's pretty much where we are. There are a few streets and a golf course between us and 215. Quiet even though it's fairly close. Of course, almost anything would be quiet compared to where we used to live. Look at Google maps for Des Moines, Iowa and pan west to the big Mixmaster where interstates 35 and 80 meet. We were a few blocks from that. Not really noisy when we moved there in 1987, but that changed. A lot.
