I'm a young black male considering to move to Clark County. I have some experience in construction and I was looking forward to being a Construction Laborer to start off. What is your take on construction jobs in Vegas. What is the job market looking like? Will I have a hard time? I only speak English.

There is a 99% chance you will be working with others that speak/understand Spanish in the construction industry. Won't hurt to learn a little.

Training Center

why not try the carpenters union? i'm sure they could provide training to beef up your skills (if necessary), as well as pay fairly well

I would advise you to check the Las Vegas construction market very carefully before moving there. I have a friend that moved to Las Vegas in mid-June in the hope of finding steady construction work. He's a production wood framer and a production drywall finisher. He's been in construction for over 20 years and he's GOOD at what he does. Up until now he never found steady work with a construction company after applying to many Las Vegas companies and driving around town stopping at construction sites trying to hustle up work. He has only worked on a handful of side jobs since he arrived in Las Vegas and they were mostly low-paying small painting residential projects. Last time I spoke to him (almost two weeks ago) he was planning on leaving Las Vegas and moving to Colorado or Nebraska.

-Cheers.

You definitely need to know someone to get a decent job here. Took me a year to meet the right people.
