I spent $200 and put up the same kind of mortars and shells you get from the major casino or city shows. But they do rapid fire, I could only do 2 or 3 at a time, then a minute pause for the next batch. It took me 30 minutes to go through half my stash.

Our first year with the new dogs and we weren't sure how they'd react to fireworks, so we stayed in. We figured out one of our basement rooms was pretty soundproof from the racket and stayed there from about 800-1100pm through the worst of it. Had to have been the quietest place because even the mostly antisocial cat came in and found a corner to hide in. Next year will probably crate the dogs in that room but come outside to see what kind of show the neighbors are putting on. Must have been good, because even through the white noise we could hear hours and hours of booming.
