Anyone know who cleans the pools at these big hotels? I can't seem to find any info whatsoever on the subject. Are they called something else entirely? ie. maintenance 3, etc.... Union? Reason being, my husband and I are escaping CA, yes I've read all the other forums, yes I know it's going to be tough, yes I know we will be starting at the bottom, yes we have a large savings... But we want to break into hospitality, and know that since it will take time, we need to stick to what we know. I am falling back on restaurant experience, but my husband is currently a commercial pool tech in Irvine here in OC, with over a decade of experience, and he wants to know where to look/apply for these types of jobs, and maybe work his way up. Any info will be appreciated. And yes, I searched before posting.

Does your husband know what the Vegas hotel pools look like when they close for the day, esp after pool parties?

Your best bet would be apply at one of the pool services in town. There are always a demand for good techs especially with knowledge of automation, heaters, filtration systems etc. Then later down the road, you could go on your own and have your own accounts. I personally do not like working with commercial pools because they can be a large headache, especially in the summer time where there is such a huge demand on use. Does he have his own pickup truck?

He currently does not have a truck. On the horizon, but move wise, the last thing we need are car payments. He really is not into pool anymore, but he's great at it, and is willing to fall back on it. Valet is another idea, as he's got a pristine driving record, and handsome and athletic. He just wants an in to a future casino job (bartending, cocktailing, host, concierge, etc). Long term goal, obviously. We both do. I know where to start, just not sure which route he should take.

From what you are telling me, I think the Pool skills is the one he should fall back on because there is a demand for good techs here in Las Vegas. Just a suggestion.
