A lot of people who had moved to and continue to move to Las Vegas are from California. A lot of people who live here in Las Vegas are from California. A lot of the people who moved here and foreclosed on their homes were from California.

Try again

Where are you living now? I think unless you get a "good" casino job the market here is bad. I used to live on the East Coast and found the pay and the job market to be better than out here.

Perspective, perspective, perspective. The pay out here may be lower in certain career fields, but the cost of living is also lower. We've found some industries actually pay 25-50% more here, while the cost of living is obviously still lower. It really depends on your field.

You can't reasonably compare a STATE to a CITY.

I will agree that the Bay Area beats Vegas to a bloodly pulp in those respects but that's also a city with a cost of living that is probably about 4x higher. Nowhere in CA can you enjoy both the benefits enjoyed by las Vegas residents at anywhere near the same cost of living. And actually much of Cali that isn't either right on the coast or part of a major metro along the coast isn't exactly overrun with sophisticated people.
