Further info, there is also talk about this becoming an annual event rather than every two years. But it's just talk. As utes posted, it will be a permanent amusement park type concert place

That corner has needed something for decades. Glad to hear it's happening and I wish them, and SLS, great success.

That corner is also historic. When the El Rancho Vegas opened there in 1941, it was the largest hotel in Las Vegas and had the largest dining room. It was the first resort in Las Vegas - and started the resort trend.

Per Wikipedia:
Shirley Bassey made her American stage debut here in 1957. Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward were married at the El Rancho Vegas in 1958. Stripper Candy Barr was headlining at El Rancho Vegas in 1959 when she was arrested by the FBI after her appeal on a marijuana conviction originating in Texas was rejected by the US Supreme Court.

On June 17, 1960, while Harry James and Betty Grable were performing a late show on stage, the hotel/casino was destroyed by a fire. It was never rebuilt.
